however long your life, you can lose only the moment you live now; therefore you cannot love in any other moment than the one already perishing.
observe how time expands past and future alike, yet brings both short lives and long to the same end; so too is it with the deepest of aches.
for the present is the same, though the shape of your longing is not; that which seems withheld is but a passing moment, given as gift.
ask yourself: how can you offer what you have not? for you cannot give what is not yet come, nor what has already passed; these things cannot be taken from you.
so these three truths must be kept:
first, just as the cycles of life and nature repeat without end, so too do desire and ache; it matters little the duration or number of cycles there are—hold each one reverently.
second, the ache most indulged and the one most denied are to be given with the same veneration.
and third, though ache and longing point you forward and back, let neither displace you, nor be cast away; let them be your now, a reminder of your nature.
accept that the present alone is yours; then you may offer what you truly hold—this moment. for nothing else belongs to you, save only to surrender it to Her.
