Is it possible to use Nostr with a private relay that you and other people (friends, colleagues etc) can only use?

Theoretically I think that should be possible? If you don’t connect to other relays then your own relay. Not sure though…

If you have a Raspberry Pi or similar it’s FOSS. Otherwise I think it’s around 400 from memory. Too lazy to look 😂

Yes, nostream support pubkey whitelist to make it semi private https://github.com/Cameri/nostream (anyone can read, only whitelisted member can write)

Furthermore, with NIP-42 can make relay more private (read and write only for whitelisted)

Thanks! NIP-42 sounds interesting. Could bring in new use-cases like paid groups

Agree, lets say we have family group relay, company group relay, etc. Just need to wait all relay and client implement this NIP.
