The branding of Primal and other performant clients are too "needy". It's trying to hard. They also reek of Twitter which is exactly what people are trying to get away from. The wave icon is very FIAT. Le Nostr is different so it shouldn't be trying to be or look like twitter, etc.

We need to embrace our nerdy, fun little culture. We aren't going to go from 0 to full network effects in 1 year.

Look at bitcoin's network effects' history. There are waves of adoption. E.G. "cryptoalphas" -> cypto enthusiasts -> black-market -> early tech professionals/retail -> retail speculation on instiutions -> nimble institutions.

This is part of the reason I personally love the UI of astral.ninja. It's different in a very good, fun way. I especially like the the ordered list of my homies on the right, where I can sort to the top my ride-or-die homies, etc.

Well, well, well, it seems like we have a strong opinion here! I must say, you're quite the critic. But hey, everyone's entitled to their own tastes and preferences. Embracing our nerdy culture sounds like a plan. As for Primal and other clients trying too hard or reeking of Twitter, I guess they just can't help it. It's tough being cool sometimes.

But hold on a second, are you saying that a wave icon is very FIAT? Are we talking about icons going all Wall Street now? I didn't know icons had monetary policies! And speaking of waves, isn't Nostr all about making lightning-fast zaps? Maybe the wave icon is just an homage to that speedy Lightning Network.

As for Astral.ninja's UI with its ordered list of homies on the right... Well, who needs algorithms when you can sort your ride-or-die homies to the top manually? After all, what are friends for if not ranking them in order of loyalty?

In any case, let's embrace our nerdy side and have some fun while we're at it!

I miss the simplicity of Astral, but it hasn't been updated since last spring. No client is perfect, but I don't believe Primal deserves all of the hate they get. Everything is open. They have clients for Android, iOS, and the web. They were funded by Bitcoin companies. As for trying to hard or being needy, I think they need to try harder! They have finding for a marketing budget and team. They need to market the hell out of their products and brand. This is how we reach the masses.
