What #bitcoin hardware is good for self-custodial means - Blockstream Jade, Trezor, Bitbox02, BitKey, something I’ve missed researching?

All good. Some more so, some more technical. We have Blockstream Jade, and Ledger (but the latter has been taking some hits for lack of privacy). It is easy to use. Both, the screen is small. Coldcard has the better screen, keypad. So many others here can help way better than I.

For the longest time I was looking into Ledger but I kept seeing privacy issues leak out about them so I’ve been holding off. Blockstream Jade was the next choice - but I need to look into Coldcard.

Passport looks interesting.

Coldcard is our next choice but twice as expensive. LMK what you find on PASSPORT.

Have you used your Jade to mine?

No. Mining is not in our future. However, running a node is. Wish I could help.

No worries, I was curious if you used that function in the Jade. I think it’s cool you can mine with it, I might have to get one and try it out.

1st choice: https://seedsigner.com

2nd: coldcard

Nothing else is worth it.

Def missed this - but open source, DIY, RPi build? it has my attention. Ty for the tip!

Super active telegram group too. It’s all off the shelf hardware so no worries about getting in a bitcoin list.

Lots of options when it comes to cases and looks too. I have two. One 3D printed. And one aluminum beauty.

Happy to help if you have any questions about it.

Ty for the info and tips on customization!

It looks like there’s lots of room for options on case sizing too if one wanted a more scaled down model - it doesn’t really get more open source than this.

Even their pre-assembled component kits looks fun to put together.

Definitely a fun project! But also super practical. And you can’t say zero, but super limited attack vector. It’s stateless and doesn’t connect to the internet. Ever.
