Man, you gotta read Born to Run… it’ll change everything. Got me out running. Within a couple of months of just running slow and not jacking my heart rate I did 17km, which I NEVER thought is something I’d be able to do.

Ooh ok. Nice. Maybe I should try it. What should be the optimal heart rate for long distance? I think im ready.

I think that has been my problem thar I've purposely been jacking up my heart rate and being on the higher zones. I think that is what prevented me from trying out longer distance. Ive mainly been working on improving my times.

I keep trying to reply, would help if I was logged in with the right keys! 🙄

Anyhow, I think that is unique for everyone. For example, my HR never goes past 180-ish, even during really intense exercise, but my resting HR is low, like 40 on average 🤷

I think the general rule is, if you can comfortably hold a conversation (four word sentences), you're probably running at a good speed.

That helps, thanks! :)

I'm switching to barefoot running after my marathon today

Nice! I ended up buying some Xero shoes. They’re very minimal, I really like them, although I’ve never really run in anything else!

PV!

I have a pair of these. Love them.
