Apparently the Soviets were able to grow citrus in sub zero temperatures by building trenches. Makes me really want to start a citrus farm in Idaho.

I had thought walipinis were less useful at high latitudes, but trenches like this would be even less so⦠interesting it worked for them.
That is common in the Andes as well, for all kinds of plants that cannot deal with the altitude and climate
