I think a hint that something is likely to be true is when it is inexhaustible. With the most sublime truths, you should be able to plumb ever deeper into their depths without reaching the bottom.
If you can wrap your mind around it completely, then it can't be Absolute.
The significance of the Incarnation in Christian theology is that the Absolute, who is unfathomable, becomes a little babe we can hold in our arms. The infinite God becomes something that our finite selves can encompass.
This fact stares us in the face up out of history and demands: "Now what?"
