we might be just the evolutionary stepping stone to AI - we cannot live long enough for interstellar travel, we are susceptible to radiation and the lack of gravity etc.. Mechanical / silicon based life would have none of those problems.
As long as we don't go all Yuval Harari on each other and short cirquit our divine wiring.
