Just use Linux or BSD! I recommend Debian... It is easy. If you want to be abosutley unfucked with use OpenBSD. :)

I'd recommend Linux Mint, best distro for n00bs migrating from windows. Then it's debian and opensuse. Kde versions will be the easiest to use.
