It doesn't matter. Whether it's worth it is up to you. 50K sats seems steep, so you're basically showing support for the devs.

It is worth it, it’s our verification process to prevent bots from gaining traction like twitter. If they have a nip-05 there were sats spent to acquire it and so it means we trust you are more real.
That being said, there are many services that sell this verification so if it seems like more than you want to spend, you can probably find a cheaper one.

if you own/control a domain you can configure nip05 for free.
otherwise you can get from free nip05 services.
paying for a nip05 is just intended to help those site operators, but at 50k its steep.
Agreed quite steep. So why verify?
primarily so others following you know its the right you and not an impersonator, which makes it far better to do yourself with a domain you control.

They can’t verify on snort for free, so it does verify the user is more legit than a random domain no one has heard of or knows is fake.
Too expensive. Get one from https://nostrplebs.com/ instead. Much less $.
