I assume this is email? How does Alby know what you are being sent to be able to notify you like this?

Yea looks like someone went phishing
Nah it’s legit. It’s part of the Alby Hub service.
Alby offers a service for people without their own server by renting channel space from them. Thus, they have oversight. It’s somewhat similar to Phoenix, where you also pay to open a channel.
I use Alby with my own node, and there Alby works perfectly.
Thanks for confirming that. We got a similar message earlier this month and I just deleted it right away because i assumed it was a phishing attempt without checking the url. We use Alby never had issues before or got any kind of message like that b4.
They monitor it I guess through Alby Hub (a service which I pay for). Honestly might just shut it down because it’s really just a pain in the ass.
The lightning address service is operated by us. Someone sends us a request and we need to fetch the right BOLT11 invoice from your Hub to pass it on to the payer.
People still ignore the ease of running a Monero node?
Yeah and you don't even need to run your own Monero node to get better than the best lightning privacy. Just download a Monero wallet like Cake Wallet and you have Bitcoin on-chain ease of use and security while having lightning level fees regardless of transaction size. Actually easier since you don't need to worry about UTXO management.
I think this is when someone requests a very large invoice from your lightning address with probably no intention to actually pay it. I can see how it can be misleading.
