I should be more specific - open protocols should not moderate. Moderation is a morality judgment. Only people can do that. Platforms can assist, but it should not be built in the protocol.

So you're against NIP-56 and the mute list. They ask me how people manage to moderate without these minimal tools.

Nope. I use these myself. They’re just not part of the base protocol. I’ve also implemented a spam zap policy in my payment system - any zap of 1 sat (SPAM_THRESHOLD), the recipient keeps the funds, but no zap receipt is issued.

I don’t believe in mute lists or muting people forever. It’s my belief humanity is capable of changing their minds. It’s apparent some will willingly follow another’s mute list which is tragic IMO.
