The name is pokey after all

I thought it was because the hokey pokey so maybe things will turn themselves around

Are people not seeing the world is turning around? More need to learn about Ouroboros and the duality of nature and nurture.

Make sure you go into the battery settings for the app and disable battery optimizations. It should be set to "Unrestricted".

I've done this, it's still not working sometimes so I have to restart it.

I tend to restart it once or twice a day just out of habit. I do that for every service that runs all the time. Android, especially newer models, can be very aggressive with app shutdowns, even if you takes steps to tell it not to shut down certain apps.

You could also try tapping on the Pokey icon in your application switcher and select Keep Open.
