I think the engagement here is well beyond what is possible on most SM platforms too which is largely due to that feed issue (although you can create a similarly addictive relay algo here if you wanted). People were already interesting but lots got hidden behind adds and now we can remember what its like to actually get to know people and make friends online.
Yea also in mainstream sm platforms, most engagement are just bots, so you don’t even know which comment is real a person or a bot, which is quite dangerous if you’re forming opinions.
We've got bots here too but not to that degree yet thankfully. This is something I'm trying to think through cause bots will only increase and WoT is a good solution but there could be some benefit in using bots too like for npub and zap onboarding or relay managment. Maybe that sort of thing should be a client side feature though, idk
