Has Ludovica been the only cat for a long time? He might have trouble bonding with a new cat if he's used to being the only object of affection.

Nice. Then there's still time. Cats do better when they have a buddy. I adopted an 8yo cat from a former roommate and I had to get a kitten to keep her company when I'm not home. They aren't exactly best friends, but the older one was miserable being alone when I was at work.
As for introducing them they need to get used to each other's scent before you let them meet. Keep them in separate rooms for a few days and swap bedding and toys between the rooms so they know the other's smell when they finally meet.
