I suppose they hate nuclear because it IS cheap and clean, cutting the legs out from their catechism.

They have but it’s not our grandparent’s nuclear. Must cost them too much to change the marketing materials.

The last time they were a net benefit to the spark of consciousness was when they were saving whales in the seventies. Now even the whales are sacrificed for offshore wind and the larger mission to enfeeble energy and curtail human potential.
Greenpeace has been hating on nuclear power long before their war on carbon.
Also, all thermal power plants have cooling towers, they aren't necessarily nuclear.
