Hey Justin! Apple currently has a very efficient way to do this by using their predictive text feature. Simply type a word and an emoji suggestion will show up above your keyboard. We wouldn't want to automatically fill in emojis for all users since it might become confusing for those who don't use emojis regularly.

My message might have lacked some context:
On Damus, when I type the word Kiss, the emoji appears.
On Plebstr, I type milk and it appears as well.
But, it doesn't appear on Primal.
Maybe something with my Phone ?
