Bolt card hmmm 🤔

meh, idc about those cards, i'll be happy with plain old scanning, or, NFC yeah, i mean if you can do that on top, ok, bolt card, i wasn't impressed with the amount of rigmerole required for coin corner, i'd rather just use QR codes personally (and my xapo app already can do this as well as me potentially using wallet of satoshi, or even the other things like phoenix or breez)

one of the problems with this is that typically this is gonna add another piece of clutter to the payment console and they usually don't want that, i know that the console area they have at this place doesn't really have the room... but maybe if it was something enough people went in for they'd be ok to have it sitting behind them on the shelf

yeah, only card i've thought was ok was tapsigner but that's only working with nutsack i mean nunchuk and it's just a handy signing tool not something related to lightning... yeah, coinkite

the state of the market in lightning hardware is pretty sad

also you cannot factory reset it, it has no self-wipe feature after a certain number of attempte, it does not support taproot, you cannot import your own seed, and the only way to backup it is to export an encrypted BIP-32 xprv

you cannot have a lightning HWW as it requires an always online node

but also it is not hard to get chip card security with LN compared to whatever the fuck boltcards are

also, yeah, the brother of the girl... that's a definite factor that may lead to them adopting it, maybe next time the topic comes up she'll be asking me about my advice for setting up a terminal... my personal pick is to just use a mobile phone and wallet of satoshi's POS functionality... but xapo bank also now have full integration it just isn't gonna be as easy as WoS

Why haven't stores all already just switched to phone based pos apps? In the US, I know its because we're too regulated and we've been slow to change, but even in China, where they pay for everything with QR codes, they still have big goofy machines all over the counter of stores.

Have you seen those NFC rings? Here on nostr someone made a video showing how to make them and it looks easy enough. I just don't know of anywhere I could use one here.

those things are a cool idea but they definitely need a hard switch to enable them, at minimum, or people will figure out how to hax them remotely... i personally hate that fact about standard NFC payment cards

they should have a pair small gold plated contacts that you have to touch to connect the circuit IMO

Ah! I saw that in a dream. Two rings - one on each hand. You tap them together to enable payments. I think my subconscious was working on this problem. I've been getting a lot of dreams lately, and its awesome.
