Been using the same book with my kids - good choice!

I gotta get my hands on that book here soon. My daughter just turned two and repeating things like a parrot!

Love the pigeon books

awesome!!!

I am not familiar with that book, lemme know if it works, i got my first coming in november.

hopefully the book uses the old school methods of teaching the sounds of the letters (phonics)

seems like the new fiat method they are handicapping children with uses some whole word method

Maybe take some spelling lessons yourself first πŸ˜†

J/k, probably autocorrect screwing with you

Added to my basket - thanks! Does it recommend when you start?

In my basket! Thank, thank you for the recommendation!

Teaching our kids about low time preference, and earning the next toy.

Dad life is the best life

Fun!

Also those pigeon books are hilarious.

We have found the Richard Scarry books are great for helping our children read. They have great little narrations and he labels objects on almost every page in many of his books.

We also have the 100 lessons book. Great resource.

Highly recommend The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading, Revised Edition Instructor Book https://a.co/d/0d8FUcKQ

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Thinking about this same topic for my oldest

That book was anything but easy for us. Good luck, LOL. My wife moved on to the Charlotte Mason method, and I said OK. We basically just read a bunch of good books to the kids. One day they'll catch on. If not, there's a McDonald's hat waiting πŸ˜…

How old are they Marty?

Depending on the age, I highly recommend the baby can read series.

Nice one Marty! I got this book on your recommendation a while ago and now we’re on lesson 7

if they know the alphabet, buy some high frequency flash cards from Amazon (in the US they're called sight cards) , they are game changers and you can combine it with ladybird read it yourself books and the levels correspond with the flash card levels.

Duolingo also has a kids reading app that I'm using with my youngest that is pretty good.

good luck!

give them some Calvin and Hobbes.

I flipped through them for years reading what I could and piecing together context for the more complex words that Waterson does not shy away from.

Letters and sounds. Just teach them phonics. The Science of Reading has been working since the 60s. Phonics and Phonemic Awareness.

Would you recommend the book? I’d like to start teaching my daughter to read soon
