Hasn't it always about men and their feelings and protecting men's feelings?

It was probably more homophobia installed by xianity among men than anything. Men feel uncomfortable around feminine men. They define gender non conforming men as "women" and dump them on women to deal with. Men always expect women to nuture and give sympathy to men they don't want to have anything to dowith.
