so i decided the correct kind of ship that i will be getting when i turn into a salty dawg pirate arrr is a sloop, and this one here is a reasonable example, and illustrates the lower end of the price range for which i will pay
something like this would be perfectly sufficient for a cross-atlantic journey and in general for living in docked somewhere, and it's as cheap as a small sedan but actually big enough for me and my professional ship's ratter
in fact, if i manage my spendage over the next 6 months i think by late summer i will be living in one of these docked in the furthest possible mooring i can find away from the middle of funchal bay... i recall seeing people anchored in ships like this out in Machico so it is probably not hard to find reasonable little anchorages all around the island... maybe not so much here on the east/west facing edges of the north of the island, because there seems to be a lot and frequent swells here (there is several notable surfing breaks around here) but i'm guessing anywhere from over towards the lower areas on the east around towards caniso and machico will probably be the most decent in terms of morning sun and less violent seas, being on the side facing towards the coast of Mauritania
i'm getting super excited about the idea of doing this, and i know that i can have the funds together for this... probably just need to try and keep up my portugesh lessons and get the sloop and my certificate and some lessons on how to operate these sails and some basic navigation/driving etc

yeah, i think it is the way... and i may not end up going west but actually east into the mediterranean
the model i have in my mind of the likely new equator actually being the line approximately currently along the longitude passing through former yugoslavia and chad, libya, hungary... makes it actually a better option, especially since i know in such a little boat you can navigate all the way up into germany along the danube!
haha awesome!
yeah, and i'm already familiar with all the major cities along that river too... ruse, vidin, novi sad, belgrade, ulm, ... i think koeln as well? and not to forget budapest!
also, this is the reasoning behind this thought - if there is a new glaciation, and this is very frequent in the period after the ~6000 year disaster cycle events - it happened 12000 years ago for sure, they even dubbed it the "ice age" - then you want to be at the equator, max sunshine
also, just thinking about it now, this may also be where the humans were concentrated prior to the last geographical pole shift
Will it be habitable while the earth is turning over during the peak of the disaster cycle? Don’t you have to be underground at the beginning before the floods start and then get to a boat if you are too close to the ocean? Or build a boat in the mountains?
