As a kid they told me no one would beat Wayne Gretzky’s scoring record. Then 30 years later Alex Ovechkin did! Incredible. What a feat!

My grandfather loved hockey, he would have loved to see it!

It was pretty special. The exact amount of games played which is a nutty stat. Gretzky has near 1200 more points still via assists.

Breaking the goal record in the modern era is something incredible indeed. https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/records/nhl-players-all-time-goals-leaders.html

Absolutely. The same amount of games played is insane!

It’s a bonkers stat. Gretzky broke his record in ‘99. Go figure!

The Crosby 1pt a game pace for 20 years is nutty still.

Ovi’s just unreal for putting em’ in the net. He broke his leg this year and still banked 40+. Wild.

I didn’t think anyone would break it to be candid.

The all time points will be a tough one to top.

It’s an amazing accomplishment but I don’t think anyone will ever touch Gretzky’s points record. I mean, he invented an assist category!
