As an adult, I'm still waiting for my dad to tell me that he's proud of me. I realized about 14 years ago that I couldn't recall if he had. I'm assuming he did when I was much younger. I just can't recall anything since before my son was born. That's when I started paying attention to it.

It's true. Feeling one has failed the Father is a son's terrible predicament, almost worthy of sepuku.
