Summer in the south you don’t even make it outside. You open the door to outside and it feels like opening a door to the oven. Step outside and it feels like trying to move around in a warm wet washcloth. Inside there’s excessive air conditioning. It feels like you have to change your entire outfit at a threshold. The mosquitoes don’t even get me started on the mosquitoes.

Back in the day my Dad’s side of the family had a ranch in Colorado about 2 hours due north of you. That’s how they handled southern summers.
