With google getting ready to cripple android, and appple already being locked down, we need an alternative.

The pinephone was a decent attempt at a Linux phone, and it does (sort of) work, though its very fiddly. There is a decent amount of apps and it does make and receive calls and texts.

They released a pinephone pro as well (which I bought) but it was barely better than the original (which is underpowered to be honest) and not great build quality.

However, it made enough progress to show that a Linux phone, with enough development, is feasible.

With more modern hardware and a few more developers thrown at it (pine64 didn't do any development at all, they just released the phone and left the rest to the community. I think it has potential.

I know GrapheneOS are looking at other hardware sources due to those changes you listed but it'll unfortunately take a while. Hats off for being a Pine enjoyer though, anything to get away from Big G and frens' horsepoop!

Thanks. My pinephone pro broke, can't accept a Sim card, though it works OK on WiFi as a sort of mini Linux PC lol
