Ooccasional photographer, guitarist and 80's fan. All pictures are mine, no AI nonsense :)

I'm back :) here's some street photography.

A nice, chill, crisp, calm morning by the jetty. Hope you like this photo I took.

Dunno guys but I feel like interest in my little photography posts has fallen off the cliff lol. Not that it was setting the world on fire to start with but I was hoping that things like photography and arty stuff would grow and get more popular on here, but the opposite is happening, or I'm just getting worse over time, that's possible too 😁

What can I do to improve? Thanks.

Another rainy day, i like how the umbrella contrasts the grey sky, and the raindrops, making it a bit more fun. #photography

I have changed my name to match my website and other profiles, but I'm still bubble ghost at heart lol

Dreamy!

Thanks, it does have that look, partly from the out of focus shutters

Took this through the shutters of a mall before it opened, I think it looks really nice. #photography

Laughter. Those two seemed to be happy at least :) street photography. #photography

Saw this person on the riverbank (looking tiny in this picture), no idea what they were doing but the scene looked really nice. #photography

Dont be afraid to have children.

They change your life, give it meaning and make it worth waking up in the morning.

It's the greatest thing you'll ever do.

So many people now wait till its too late, or think I'll "cramp my lifestyle", but the truth is, having kids surpasses every other thing you think gives your life value.

Do it, you'll love it :)

What's your opinions on substack? Is it a useful thing for a photographer (me lol)

To be fair, I feel many of the main towns a d cities in multiple countries are in the same condition.

I think a combination of the death of the high street, loss of community and people feeling desperate or hopeless has caused much of this.

Most upsetting for me is seeing whole generations of people that have just become husks, drink and drugs and unhealthy living has ruined them.

All they do is exist.

I went out today intending to take some street photography pictures documenting "the decline of civilisation" where I live.

My rule was going to be, no poor porn, no pictures that are obviously political, just pictures showing how badly things are deteriorating.

My camera never even made it out my bag.

Every picture would have been poor porn or political.

At 12am during a weekday, the place was full of drunks, junkies, suspicious looking creeps, beggars and apparently disabled people (with walking sticks or mobility scooters). Half the shops were boarded up and the rest were a mix of shops for specific ethnicities (Indian, polish etc), vape shops, Turkish hairdressers or Chinese nail bars.

All the classic stores and cool niche shops are gone.

I also felt very threatened, and I'm not exactly a timid person, but there was a horrible atmosphere about the place.

The crumbling buildings, failing infrastructure, dirt, litter, lack of investment and cheap pointless "art installations" didn't come close to comparing to the wasted state of the people.

Any pictures i took would have been sad and depressing, and I didn't want that, I was hoping to show a sort of "people thriving in the face of adversity" feel, but no, it would just have been people deteriorating in the face of abandonment.

I havent given up, but next time I'll go to more of a tourist place, or business area, where I won't feel I'm about to get mugged and, hopefully, I can tell the story without it being a completely soul crushing horror.

Goody good, goody good, good morning πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ keep going, we'll get there in the end.

Freshly made naan bread πŸ˜ƒ made with just self raising flour and Greek yogurt (and a pinch of salt), takes 5 minutes and very healthy.

Oh no, I bought a new camera.

I blame you guys on here.

Being able to post my photography here and your feedback has been great, and encouraged me to keep going, so thank you πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘

Goooooood morning nostr

So about 3 months ago i had a strange impulse to buy a crucifix necklace.

I don't know why, I never had one before and didn't consider myself religious.

However it just felt right, I had a sense that it was something i needed to do, it seemed important, I really cant explain why.

Since then I've worn it every day and I feel im becoming more religious. A very unexpected turn of events.

Man I miss the 80s.

I know everyone gets nostalgic for whatever era they grew up in, but the 80s had that mix of exciting new technology, good music, a thriving youth culture, impending nuclear doom (well that bit not so much fun really), community spirit (your town or place you came from was important, it was your tribe, something that's died off now), optimism for the future and a sort of innocence that feels crazy now.

Its a shame gen z won't and haven't experienced it.

Favourite android keyboard?

I'm using Heliboard (openboard fork), anything better?

Ooh :) to be fair, there are half a dozen Linux builds for the phone that work (to a certain degree) maybe one of those could be overhauled to make something more impressive :) though a whole new OS sounds fun

With google getting ready to cripple android, and appple already being locked down, we need an alternative.

The pinephone was a decent attempt at a Linux phone, and it does (sort of) work, though its very fiddly. There is a decent amount of apps and it does make and receive calls and texts.

They released a pinephone pro as well (which I bought) but it was barely better than the original (which is underpowered to be honest) and not great build quality.

However, it made enough progress to show that a Linux phone, with enough development, is feasible.

With more modern hardware and a few more developers thrown at it (pine64 didn't do any development at all, they just released the phone and left the rest to the community. I think it has potential.

GM. May your sats increase and your zaps be plentiful.

ONE OF THE GREATEST CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.... was changing the smell of this stuff, it used to be amazing, a sort of marzipan, vanilla custard smell. Now its a bland nothing smell.

We need a way to use bitcoin on steam and similar games platforms.

Make it so...

This might sound sad, but the few zaps that you guys have given on my pictures, is the most money I've ever made as a photographer πŸ˜…

I've never asked for money really, and was ripped off big time early on (there's a major hair dye company still using one of my pictures, that I got zero payment or credit for), which put me off even trying.

So thanks :)

Nostr is just so damn wholesome most of the time.

Its funny because this is technically an unmoderated space, and yet people pretty much behave.

Even the more far out their opinions are presented with humor or decent arguments behind them.

It proves something, I'm not sure what yet, but its a very interesting observation :)
