A significant segment of the Jewish population are atheist, yet many if those people still claim to be the chosen people living in the chosen land. That is literally the basis many are using for justification of wiping out and expelling Palestinians.

Jews don't believe it hell though lol, but they do think Jesus was more of a witch doctor than a messiah. Also, the term "messiah" meant more political than ethereal. There were many messiahs before and after Jesus. And the Jews were looking for a messiah to free them from Roman oppression, instead of changing their customs and absolving them of their sins.
