I’ve gotten #[2] to join, but that’s my only success so far. My real-life friends are mostly all on Instagram and Facebook, so this is still waaaay too big of a leap for them.

We got our friend #[5] signed up, too, but that was pre-zaps, so I’ll work on her more next time I see her. 😅
My missus kinda gets it but hasn’t had enough interest to check it out. But I’ve heard a lot of complaining about all the ads popping up on insta recently, so I might have to start some sort of campaign among my friend groups soon.
Instagram is slowly turning itself into tiktok and it’s not appealing to me at all.
I barely go on ig anymore, unless supporting friends really quick, they really ruined it

FB marketplace is all I go on there for now

Even that has gone to shit, though. My local marketplace feed is at least 50% scams, ads, or bait posts.
Oddly I find myself on FB regularly these days as they dominate for private local community groups.
If trying to embed in a rural barter economy it’s (unfortunately) still invaluable.
For me it’s organising events with friends (birthdays, housewarmings etc).
It’s still the easiest way to reach the maximum amount of people and pretty much the only reason I still have an account.
Easiest way for me has being set it up then set up wallet of satoshi, link it with Nostr and ask for some sats. People like seeing numbers going up lol

I see many that just don't find nostr interesting at this stage, because there is little for them to react to.
Like quote tweet a politicians and comment on the latest stupidity they wrote. The audience for that is also smaller here (at this point).
Then there is still a wealth of current info on twitter that you don't find on nostr right now. Network effects you know.
That said, let's see what happens when next big thing censorship hits and nostr won't be affected. That's when another crowd discovers the protocol.
Also... more users, more morons... it's inevitable. So enjoy the nice times while it lasts.
