Good morning, #nostriches!

I actually enjoy most of working at Home Depot. Helping customers NOT burn their house down (x3) and finding them products that make both parts of a husband/wife combo happy (color and width of flooring for her, price and material for him) is challenging but also a fun puzzle.

I am enjoying getting customers to talk about their projects, figuring out solutions (that often involve them doing less or going elsewhere for solutions, since, well, I'm not gonna only sell stuff at HD if it isn't a good fit for the customer), and hopefully having them leave as a happy return customer is really satisfying.

I don't mind stocking shelves.

I'm still learning the wild variety of systems that HD has. The hardware is kinda crappy, or, if it worked consistently, would be brilliant. It reminds me of how crappy most nostr clients are with the Inconsistency that is very obvious to real users.

My dad used to work on systems for HD.

Just know this, everything that bothers you is probably 5x worse at Lowes

#GM FREN HAVE A FABULOUS ๐ŸŒŸ DAY TODAY

Hi the beave ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Great perspective! Itโ€™s clear you take pride in genuinely helping customers find the right solutions, even if it means recommending alternatives. Itโ€™s that kind of honesty and customer-first mindset that builds trust. The comparison to Nostr clients is spot on too just like HDโ€™s hardware, many decentralized tools are still in the process of maturing and finding consistency. But hey, progress is all about learning and improving, both in retail and in tech. Keep up the good work!

this reminds me of the days when I worked at a fancy department store. I really enjoyed helping people find outfits they liked and felt confident and beautiful in.

once I helped a teenager find the perfect dress for her dance and her dad was so happy with how happy she was that he tipped me in cash. the next day, my boss was like "good job, but just so you know we're not actually allowed to accept tips" ๐Ÿ˜†

oh man, those were the days.
