Gigi, it’s worth checking out Louis Rossman’s video on them. Gave me pause on the project.

Luis’ claim at the end, that the lead dev (ex, already stepped) down may sabotage the project by injecting malicious code to get back at him is a total joke. Ignore the FUD.
Graphene is Awesome and nothing comes close.
As for the ex-lead-dev, excessive paranoia makes this project that much better because you can never be secure enough. And after multiple Swattings at his house, that could’ve gone very south, I can understand him.
Yeh, I get the paranoia. Just seemed like the guy was off the reservation, which is a concern when it’s the lead dev for an OS. That kind of fear justifies all kinds of crazy shit.
So that lead dev stepped down? Would be grateful if you gave me your take on how the project is solid from any kind of hasty, unwise changes. Is it the open source aspect? New devs that are calm?
I say this as someone who really wants to make the switch to Graphene.
Overall GrapheneOS has a very well reputation. It’s Open Source, tried and tested. Snowden uses / used it in the past. Google back ported numerous security fixes/improvements into the main OS over the years and that is telling a lot about graphenes quality of work.
The other devs seem calm, at least you don’t hear stuff from them like you did from the ex lead. So besides the issues with their publicity in the past I don’t worry about them stopping or discontiueing the project.
So I say, go for it. Try it out even if you install their containerised google play service implementation to get access to banking apps and reliable (non battery) draining notifications.
Cheers mate, will definitely experiment with it.
Two good Videos on Graphene and newer Pixels:

Working great on a dedicated coinjoin device for three years!
Yes indeed my good man.
👊

I’m trying this out
My choice 👌
What would you advise? Pixel 7 pro?
GrapheneOS runs perfectly fine on 6A right now. You can see how long the devices are supported on their FAQ page
