I've grown a variety of ways over the years, and I think it's the best way unless you have a flowhood and want to do agar.

I’ve been seeing some with grain in a mason jar. Idk, this is my first run so want to keep it basic. I did the CVG substrate last night so should be able to mix it all today and get her growing out.
Yep, the trick with grain jars is getting the moisture level right. Takes some trial and error. You might loose a few rice bags to contamination but it's also way less work than pressure cooking the jars.
Ah! I see. I did have a couple contaminated bags. I’m going to burry them in the garden since I added a bunch of manure in the fall. Maybe get lucky with some fruits.
