Same. Grew up in Alabama . Moved to San Diego for the navy . Stayed for 9 years. Just moved back home recently. If I would have never moved away I wouldn’t be able to appreciate it

I do find myself longing for the beaches and the southern food. Moving away from your home state will always leave a hole in your heart. I do not miss the craziness, or incompetence of the general population. As well as the crime and danger of living where I did in the south either.
Overall the pros outweigh the cons of moving up north for me. I live in a mountain wilderness on a nice homestead in a small town where the community is safe and people are nice.
Idaho is really the only fantasy location I would consider moving to, because I could have a larger piece of property and a ranch for more affordable prices. Other than that I am totally happy where I live.
