it only takes a while for the rain to wash it away, and it's spring coming up in a few months, i believe that is a high rainfall season there

for sure, sodium chloride does slow down plant growth and maybe even kill some of it but if it's all burned anyway what's the difference?

My old man used brine to kill the weeds that grew in scattered places on his property. The effect did not last long and after a while vegetation would grow back.
