Something I learned this year about writing is that people only want the conclusion.
I definitely didn't learn this in college (I studied env. engineering). It was a shock to learn that people don't want to read about data or about your process to arrive at the conclusion; they only want the takeaway.
Consequently, for honest, analytical people, you have to write the full analysis and then move the conclusion to the front. Then, the analysis becomes supporting material that leads credibility to your conclusions. This thread about Lightning should be a great example of this in action: conclusion, then supporting analysis.
Lightning had a huge year in 2025 and the data shows it's healthier than ever.
If Bitcoin is to become the global medium of exchange, Lightning is the essential ingredient for decentralized scaling.
nostr:nprofile1qqsrjxqeute0zwusetrjp9qeadt5aa7q686wsxr8lsjvg73uuh52yjqpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmp064a45g have you seen this concern about stables on BTC from Bob McElrath? It creates an incentive for miners to manipulate the system.
https://xcancel.com/BobMcElrath/status/1816085890109751320#m
I've encountered the concern before and it applies to onchain activity. Lightning transactions would be largely unaffected by the mining game theory at play in MEV.
Using Bitcoin for this purpose can't be stopped in the same way as arbitrary data storage. Consequently, we should embrace reality that Bitcoin is a neutral value transfer system.

It's not likely in the near term. The only exception would be if you're bringing significant payment volume.
Otherwise, there's a 3000 BTC waitlist and performance is highly related to the amount of assets deployed from what we're seeing in early phases.
2026 will be massive for bitcoin and nostr:nprofile1qqsz4uq7p44arw0mh83agv2h6ezep7e8mnau403g0p99svhp00hms7cpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uq3uamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwp6kytnhv4kxcmmjv3jhytnwv46z7gfeph5 will be at the epicenter of its proliferation as a medium of exchange on lightning.
I am so excited to bring the culmination of innovations and products to life next year. Massive year ahead.
While liquidity remains tight at the Fed, we've made liquidity very "accommodative" on the lightning network with nostr:nprofile1qqsz4uq7p44arw0mh83agv2h6ezep7e8mnau403g0p99svhp00hms7cpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uq3uamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwp6kytnhv4kxcmmjv3jhytnwv46z7gfeph5 Magma.
This brings our payment processing target rate to 0.2% which supports real economic growth with efficient payments within the Bitcoin sector.

Keep dreaming doggo

What hypothetical example would you like to see played out in real life?
It's closer to human nature.
Which is the better friend: Brad or 64438?
Most people are gonna choose Brad.
The value of a new lightning channel from a node has nothing to do with its name, but somehow we think it does.
The data shows we're unnecessarily biased towards branding.
Oh my you're available?? π
We're not hiring at the moment, but I would expect to hire in 2026.
Metrics at nostr:nprofile1qqsz4uq7p44arw0mh83agv2h6ezep7e8mnau403g0p99svhp00hms7cpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uq3uamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dwp6kytnhv4kxcmmjv3jhytnwv46z7gfeph5 have been up and to the right this year with yields stabilizing (green), liquidity cost falling (red), and liquidity market volume growing (blue).
These metrics are great for Amboss, Bitcoin, and Decentralization.

I think you should close those channels then and connect to our Rails cluster for better reachability.
It worked out great for Bitcoin Amsterdam.
I'm blown away.
Lightning is insanely efficient.
I just watched someone get $7,118 of liquidity for $10.
That's a total payment processing cost of 0.14%.
>20x cheaper than VISA. No chargebacks. Instant.
No liquidity management required if you buy channels.
Send me your ramen tips please π

I'm so happy to be bringing this refresh to Magma after 4 amazing years!!
Zero account setup, Intelligent Liquidity Selection from decentralized LSPs, and Easy adoption of Bitcoin Lightning Payments.
This update was partly inspired by nostr:nprofile1qqszrqlfgavys8g0zf8mmy79dn92ghn723wwawx49py0nqjn7jtmjagpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezummcw3ezuer9wchszyrhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekk7mf0qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uynmh4h's great points about better privacy and great UX.
Shared projects are so fun
My Rails node has successfully routed 12,835 payments since it started 53 days ago, which is around 242 payments per day.
There are nearly 14,000 active nodes.
The Lightning network as it is can handle many, many more payments. This is where the machine economy will thrive.
There's the lightning loop in service
