I am torn on allowances vs pay for tasks. I think they should have responsibilities and incentives/feedback for their efforts. I think the most important thing is that they always spend less than they make ... always save.

Onchain is not so efficient for small amounts. You not only pay onchain fee for each allowance, combining those coins later will be extra costly. LN is the only efficient way to accumulate a little at a time.
