I didn't use Nostr for a long time because I didn't have a working VPN for a while. I am not comfortable with Nostr servers seeing my IP address so I simply did not open the app until I got VPN working again.

Truly decentralized apps like Nostr and Keet are excellent. They would be perfect if they made third party relaying a lot more automatic.

Yeah but no. No better bang for the buck than repurposing what you have. A Pi with an external powered USB hub is stable AF. Never had an issue with reliability.

I have fixed up and stress tested six ThinkPad E490. Base price range is $110-180 before shipping depending on hardware options. Cheaper for low res screen or if the case has more cosmetic blemishes, stuff that doesn't matter for a server. I'm fixing up these machines as an eco friendly hobby.

This model is particularly good for nodes because it supports two internal SSDs which is essential to maximize lighting database reliability and safety. They can also use up to 32GB RAM, although I tend to use 16GB RAM which is plenty good for a node. This is far more bang for the buck than raspberry pis. DM if you're interested.

I used to be able to report bots on Twitter easily for many years, but now I have to show a drivers' ID to report someone that copies my persona even as a 600k following paid blue check, and so I don't bother anymore, and therefore bots proliferate. And if you don't pay for reach, you get devalued. Only in the past few months have I had to show my ID to report my countless bot copiers if I want to report them on Twitter/X. And so their rate of removal has decreased. If my Nym differs a bit from my name, well LET'S FILE SOME TPS REPORTS!!!! (which wasn't previously the case). And so as bots proliferate, and as Musk fails to contain bots as he promised he would and bragged about with memes, he will instead reference his own self-created bot problem as a reason to require even more ID requirements and try to build his US version of the Chinese Communist Party WeChat app. This is exactly what governments do. In my professional opinion, after careful consideration, Elon Musk can ::check notes:: politely go fuck himself, and those who worship him should reconsider what exactly they show blind obedience toward.

* I just bought a new car so I'm not really using this car anymore.

* Service history: Judging by the low miles you can see I did very little driving. Changed oil with synthetic every year despite not reaching 5k miles. Just completed multi-point inspection and $3k of maintenance at the local Toyota dealer. Only problem was a leaking water pump (replaced). New coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid. Brakes and tires are in good condition.
