biggest challenge so far with #grapheneos has been driving.

- osmand map/navigatian app not nearly as intuitive or accurate as the spymasters' / search results only show distances ("is THAT the right Costco or is it THAT one? I need the one that's on the way to my destination")

- bluetooth audio only works well on primary profile. in-call controls on secondary profiles are useless (AOSP bug, getting no attention)

I greatly appreciate learning about your real life struggles with #grapheneos

I make a point of not using GPS when driving. Driving is boring enough already, I'm not gonna make it even boringer by not thinking.

You should read Why We Drive by Matthew B. Crawford. Might invigorate your driving experience.

that sounds nice, but when you're on a schedule and have six stops and dr appts and a grocery pickup and soccer practice....lol

Be late. Stop caring if other people care.

I use Tomtom app on graphineos. Privacy trade-off but at least it's sandboxed and only phones home when I let it.

GMmaps WV is a Google maps proxy

No voice nav but better than osmand map when driving.

I had the exact same experience.

Came to the same conclusion. When I tried it out several years ago, it was also lacking text2speech, which is also provided by Google, so I did not even had voice announcements for routing. Not very pleasant.

You could give OrganicMaps a try. The routing is pretty decent: https://organicmaps.app/de/

Install https://github.com/RHVoice/RHVoice to get the text to speech service on graphene.

cool! will check it out, thanks
