Moderated Channels in NIP28 is a bad idea.
It relies on trust to clients to follow all the rules.
Relay oriented moderation is the way to go. If a person wants to operate a large set of chat groups and things alike, he should run a relay.
Centralizing the whole Nostr network to top10 relays is a bad trend and client developers are mostly responsible for it.
Relay developers and operators along can not make running relays attractive.
There has to be several clients treating relays as first class citizens in product design instead of treating relays as mere network replicas.
Also, there has to be new relay implementations that focus on feature richness for 1000-2000 npubs instead of performance that’s required for a global relay. What Damus relay needs are different from what my favorite coffee shop’s relay needs.
