You dont need those products
100%. Then you can get upgrades as soon as they are released and update one package at a time and run on reasonable hardware (no one should be running a Raspberry Pi node these days). You no longer have to push the Umbrel update button and hope for the best.
I run it myself now on an old OptiPlex, but want to upgrade my hardware. I might save a few bucks doing it myself, but I don't mibd supporting businesses on the bitcoin standard.

I want to get both a start 9 and Umbrel.
If you do end up running both, I give the Umbrel 6 months, tops.
Why 6 months?

It broke a few months ago. I fixed it. It broke again after the update so I fixed it. I'm a glutton for punishment.
How much experience do you have with start9? I can't imagine putting in the work to use Umbrel when I could just use start9
I start9 for about two years, but my RAM died so I either need to replace it or buy a new machine. I use this to run my full node and host my blog over TOR.
I use Umbrel for Home Assistant, Mealie, and Jellyfin(mostly non bitcoin related software, but I also use it for LNbits)
I run both because I like apps from each one. It's easier to run stuff over clearnet with cloudflare-tunnel on Umbrel, but Start9 is easier to manage.
Is there an easier way to host Start9 apps over clearnet?
