So, am I completely insane or couldn't nostr events be transmitted wirelessly on APRS? There are several websockets based APRS gateways, and it's basically just a modified short message Ax.25 packet protocol for Ham radio location sharing or telemetrics. Seems totally doable, I just don't quite know where I'd start. Maybe a local relay that is modified to use existing APRS gateways and/or interface with APRS software connected to a radio?

This piques my interest because it opens the door to Nostr relays connecting without physical ISPs.

So youre doing whatever this is and im waiting for my first webcam. If we ever meet im taking you for a ride in my new car

πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ Idk if I'm necessary doing this, I'm more thinking out loud. I know the puzzle pieces fit, but I'm currently too dumb to know how

Shit if you think youre dumb then im friggin Rainman

This would be fucking boss. It would open up a huge network of communication and payment network that is unstoppable.

So a literal, physical relay?

Well, essentially yes! Just using radio to handle the connection VS relying on a hard line network. APRS already works like a TCP/IP mesh network with some relay servers that help support it. Feel like such a natural fit, and it's tech that been around for decades now.

Fascinating. I could see local paid relays where you could connect to Nostr or the net through someone's Start9.
