Have you tried escalating the situation? Most of people that work on the Apple’s review process don’t have a lot of context nor permission, they are almost bots. Apple has given exceptions in the past for me because I pointed out that other apps were doing something similar and they would have to take them down as well.
Discussion
I’ve had two calls with them. Never pointed out the other apps though because i don’t want to put other nostr apps at risk.
In Germany you would be called „Ehrenmann“ 💪🙏🫂💜
It sounds silly but as a developer I’m just trying to share how I managed to get around some of their nonsense rules.
I also had a few calls with them a few years ago. Did you ask to escalate? I remember that the first person that I spoke couldn’t do much they were going to take to their team for further discussion. Also; the person didn’t know much about crypto.
After two calls, I requested to escalate the issue to their manager, and the app was approved again.
I never had any issues publishing new versions going forward.
I think nostr:npub129vmq7s27rsgsaj7tvj5639ekd05w7sesh8l3hsm9vcw7wc2q0fs0406w3 has the right idea. Not mention the other Nostr apps, that's tiny. But why NOT point out:
- Twitter can accept tips
- Reddit can accept tips
- #Minds is all about posters being paid through their "token" and advertises 5M users
It would not hurt any of the above to get mentioned. Any others?
Then, I think you are ready for another call with them 😉
I know nothing about #Minds but their site is hilarious and they have their iOS app no problem (another spam token, who would have thought those are still around):
