Requiring a faith in the divine does not mean they are equal worth. That argument could be made by any religion that they are the right choice. Instead we have acknowledged that our faith my differ we as individuals are still equal. Freemasonry is not a religion, there is no worship to any specific deity in our meetings. If your faith keeps you from lodge then that is ok.
I do owe a disclaimer, any requirements i speak are for the jurisdiction i am a member in.
The Swedish Rite branch Freemasonry does require a Christian faith. This is a body that is prevalent in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. I am not a christian and cannot sit in lodge with them nor would they have allowed me to be made a mason.
