I'm for sure the odd one out and I get invited to WhatsApp all the time via SMS :D

But I'm also bothered by people far less so save a lot of time. If its important they will call or download Signal.

nostr:npub15u3cqhx6vuj3rywg0ph5mfv009lxja6cyvqn2jagaydukq6zmjwqex05rq got my on simpleX. Are you peeps going to use both? Dm-ing on nostr isnt the cleanest imo

When I'm happy with a numberless alternative I will move to it.

I've played around with SimpleX and its not quite there yet for non technical people. Start9 have just added a self hosted SimpleX option to their marketplace which I need to test, maybe I can uncle Jim my family.

I've used Matrix quite a lot but a Tor only instance which is very limiting. Keet is OK as another alternative.

I have had no success inviting others (even legit bitcoiners) to a different messaging platform. I joined Nostr following Vance Crowe, and SimpleX following Seth. What would a person (me) gain going to these others like signal?

Signal is a step away from WhatsApp (meta) If you are using WhatsApp to connect with people then I think Signal is an improvement on this.

I agree with you there are so many options to choose from and none of the enhanced privacy ones have any critical mass outside of privacy circles.

The future has to be non phone number tied / non identifying communication. Whether that's Nostr or something else I don't know, maybe there will be an interoperable encrypted messaging standard that Signal etc will all move towards without identifiers.

advantages are signal is not meta, keet is p2p

fuck fagbook took the word meta
