Talk is cheap. When the government comes kicking, you're life changes. That hill you said you'd die on becomes real because you're forced to stand on it. Then you look at your kids, your spouse, the life you built, their futures, your life dead or behind bars for something made up.

This isn't dramatic, those who've been there know that I'm talking about. These actions happen in silence "why cover it in the news, they were clearly breaking the law".

These are very real events you need to know so we can build more resilient systems. Don't let your hubris convince you that you're safe. Most of my friends think I'm insane for building the tools I do, in my last gig and now. They told me to get out while I can, go do something more mainstream so you can sleep at night. To me, I'd get worse sleep living a "normal life" wishing I did something more, took a risk maybe, stood up for something I believed in.
