I'm going to publish more on nostr. I need to settle on a desktop client though: mobile is always optimized for consumption and adds speed bumps to actual creation.

I'm also going to need to run my own instance so that I can archive all my random thoughts and not lose them in the ether. I've made that mistake many times since I stopped publishing everything on my own blog...

Try jumble.social

My favorite client so far

As far as I have found, there is no great desktop client. However, Nostrudel, https://nostrudel.ninja/ or https://coracle.social/ -- used through a web browser, is as much power as you'll ever need. For 'running your own instance', you'll possibly want to run https://github.com/hoytech/strfry

Did you try https://jumble.social/? It's a great web client.

Use https://jumble.social/, the best nostr client.

Try jumble or corcole

Might want to check into Obsidian with the Nostr-Writter plug-in for long form notes.

You could try either nostr:nprofile1qqsgajr2e8ssj7vesefqdrhxkqpz8w8ryed2hvl79rakkwmw999de9shuz8h5 (web client) from nostr:nprofile1qqsf03c2gsmx5ef4c9zmxvlew04gdh7u94afnknp33qvv3c94kvwxgsm3u0w6 or nostr:nprofile1qqsrjerj9rhamu30sjnuudk3zxeh3njl852mssqng7z4up9jfj8yupql3xdua (desktop client) from nostr:nprofile1qqswuyd9ml6qcxd92h6pleptfrcqucvvjy39vg4wx7mv9wm8kakyujgua442w . I'm currently researching relays myself, so I can't offer much guidance there yet.

Let me know which client and relay you decide on and how they work out for you.

An alternative to running a relay for archiving is a small script in the homelab or some other server which simply fetches all events for a particular pubkey from relays and backs them up locally to e.g. file or sqlite.
