There’s a guy in the hockey world who makes a living selling “confidence” to goalies.

His whole pitch is getting them to look in the mirror and call themselves POWERFUL. But the catch is, they have to keep calling him to feel confident, because their confidence isn’t grounded in anything real. Of course, he invoices them for the phone call.

A couple of years ago, he invited me on his podcast. He asked for my take on confidence. I basically said what you just did: real confidence comes from hard work and results grounded in reality, not pretending.

After that, I never heard from him again. The episode never aired.

He calls himself the “Goalie Mindset Guy.” Honestly, it should be the Goalie FIAT Mindset Guy... confidence backed by nothing.
