Any amount of alcohol consumed immediatly prior to sleep will affect sleep quality. Best practice would be to finish consumption far enough ahead that your liver has a chance to metabolize it prior to sleeping.

That being said, cleaner alcohols (ie vodka), lack the cocktail of organic compounds that things like whiskey have and have the reputation of being less impactful afterwards. They also lack the flavor, so where's the fun in that?
