I sometimes call it tweet because I'm not sure what we are supposed to call it but still hanging onto the word "twitter" and "tweet" on purpose is lame.

I find a lot of people who still call it twitter are just angry deep down inside because the person who bought it doesn't align with their values. So it's their way to trying to express their anger.

It's re-branded. It's X

For some people it’s probably that but I think for most people it’s about the name being silly.

Most don't really understand or think about the true reason Elon Musk bought twitter and rebranded it to X.

The name was picked for a reason meant for the future but if we told the "most" they would not accept it and think it's "silly"

I think you are right in your first paragraph, ”[m]ost” don’t give a shit. However, given that premise I also think that same lot would accept whatever explanation for the name change you would give them.
