now, i understand why mountains are so important
many volcanic soils are paramagnetic, and some substantial amount are ferromagnetic
i grew up on a mountain most of my school years where the soil was red, and one of the most common minerals you found in the ground was little chunks of hematite you could find anywhere after digging for half an hour or so
most mountains are rich in ferromagnetic materials, and paramagnetic minerals, which are magnetically permeable which means they align with magnetic fields
man, i never heard about this stuff he's saying though... a clear evidence of 12000 years rotations of the earth's magnetic field, over and over again
anyway, two things:
one, the earth's crust is going to rotate... this means there will be a massive kinetic event that will cause ocean water to fall one direction and then splash back the other way
so, first of all, you need to be at a high altitude, so, mountains for a start
strong magnetic permeability of the earth around us, this helps a lot, in general, protecting you from the radiation
high altitude because that at some point there will be epic, maybe 1km tall tsunamis but not from explosions under the ground, and volcanoes and such, well, in this case because the whole crust of the earth is rotating to align the magnetic poles of the crust vs the core
Ben from Suspicious Observers says that there are a number of places that will be safe, and that the likely new poles are going to be more or less the indian ocean and the the other roughly in the carribean sea, and the best places to be will be the eastern rockies, eastern mountains of spain, the western balkans, and the mountains around mongolia, the center of australia, and the mountains at the south of south america
i'm here on this island, and i know it's a good spot to be, from 1km altitude upwards, that is definitely one big area real close to me, as it is i'm already at 400m now, i think at this height it might be ok, and the other thing, is that it's almost 90 degrees opposite, meaning the rotational velocity of the future rotation will mean this is a relative still eye of the storm, so to speak
i have no idea, but i'm here and i know that if the volcanoes here don't get lively, and you set up in a stable part of the ground with a shit-ton of rock under you, and high enough, it is probably safe
it's unknown exactly where and when it's going to happen
i'm torn about all this... i have in my mind 3 possible migration destinations, southern siberia around Altai and either that or northeast Bosnia or eastern rockies where Ben of SO is based
i like bosnia a lot
i've been drawn to siberia for a long time
and the current market situation in the eastern rockies is very favorable for many of my personal interests
i'm torn, each of these options have benefit, but i can't help but agree with Ben that the eastern rockies are probably one of the safest places to be, but in an absolute sense, mongolia/siberia are the safest ground at all, and the balkans, is something in between in both respects
