Every time I go to the hospital, I end up shocked at the poor quality of care.

Just saw a patient we took to the OR 2 days ago for a septic stone. The kidney was filled with pus.

Patient is in septic shock, intubated, on vasopressors and CRRT.

I ask the nurse: “Where is the Foley catheter bag?” Because I wanted to see the urine.

He informs me it was removed after the OR and they have been doing straight catheter insertions every hour and “all we get is pus.”

This is fucked on so many levels. Too upset to keep typing.

Dumb fucking protocols to prevent CAUTIs are more important than saving this lady’s life.
